When circumstances happen, our minds are like open doors. We allow our minds to interpret the thing that just happened. A thought will enter a door to our minds. As quickly as it takes to close the door, an emotion is created by that thought. Thoughts are always debatable - unlike the circumstance. Therefore, thoughts immediately create an emotion. If you are feeling an emotion you don't like, you have the power to send it out the door and bring in another thought - to create an emotion you would like better. When we realize we can choose our thoughts, we then can change our emotions. When we do this, we are in control - feeling empowered and like a huge weight has been lifted.
